If you enjoy hiking, we propose an active getaway for a weekend. The newly opened path along the Welsh coast discover small villages, cliffs, white beaches and spectacular scenery.
They are 870 miles, or what is the same, 1,400 miles, allowing you to discover the country through a path that follows the coastline, from the outskirts of Chester in the north to near the border with England, in the town of Chepstow in the south. The route is accessible for walkers and hikers all the way and also in some sections, suitable for cyclists, families with pushchairs, disabled people and also for those who want to enjoy a horseback ride.
The Welsh coast offers not only landscapes but also indescribably rich culture reflected in its castles and small coastal towns. From the mouth of the River Dee to the north, passing the island of Anglesey (Wales united by a bridge) and the Snowdonia National Park, to the stunning Cardigan Bay, where you can see dolphins and porpoises, you will discover a unique natural environment and so far largely unknown.
If you follow the trail reaches the area of the Pembrokeshire National Park (the only coastal national park in Britain), which houses one of the most spectacular scenery throughout Britain, including sheer cliffs, beautiful white sand beaches and the city smaller UK: St. David. In Gower, one finds the best beaches in the area of Cardiff, capital of Wales, an industrial landscape but no less impressive.
All Coast Path is marked and divided by sections. It also offers the opportunity to explore through various activities suitable for everyone and the kind of experience that will be looking for: family activities with picnic sites, castles, boat trips and adventure centers, discover the most fascinating places and buildings of its splendid past and present, relax in one of the 42 blue Flag beaches or otherwise release adrenaline while cycling, paragliding, climbing cliffs or jumping coasteering practice.
For these reasons and for being the only route of its kind in the world who can walk along an entire country discovering every corner of their natural and cultural wonders, the editor of Lonely Planet travel guides has recognized this as a path of the 10 best destinations in 2012.
